EPDM rubber is an elastomer characterized by a wide range of applications. EPDM exhibits satisfactory compatibility with fireproof hydraulic fluids, ketones, hot and cold water, and alkali and exhibits unsatisfactory compatibility with most oils, gasoline, kerosene, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, and concentrated acids.

The main properties of EPDM are its outstanding heat, ozone, and weather resistance. The resistance to polar substances and steam are also good. It has excellent electrical insulating properties. It has good resistance to ketones, ordinary diluted acids, and alkalines.

Resulting Properties

The formulation 1K, Heat Cured EPDM Sealant provides a heat cured sealant that has excellent adhesion to cold rolled steel. It also offers good adhesion to cold rolled steel that has been coated with oil. This allows the end-user the possibility of eliminating cleaning or pretreating before the sealant is applied to the substrate. Sartomer 633, is a metallic diacrylate coagent, which when added provides good sealant performance, especially adhesion. Heat age values (130°C/two weeks) increases over the RT tests.The source of this formulation is Cray Valley.
