Applicable Base Polymer Properties

Polybutadiene resins are low molecular weight, hydroxyl-terminated homopolymers of butadiene. These hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) resins are characterized by low volatiles content, low glass transition temperatures, excellent hydrophobicity and a highly reactive functionality.

Resulting Properties

The formulation 1K, Heat Cured Polybutadiene Sealant is for a general purpose heat cured sealant based on polybutadiene resin. Using polybutadiene will provide better hydrolytic stability than other conventional elastomers. Sartomer 633, is a metallic diacrylate coagent, which when added to peroxide-containing sealant formulations co-cures to provide the necessary properties for good sealant performance, especially adhesion. Heat age values (130°C/two weeks) increases over the RT tests. The source of this formulation is Cray Valley.
