Waterborne Acrylonitrile Flocking Adhesive for Leather Substrates (Parts by Dry Weight)

Applicable Base Polymer Properties

Acrylonitrile butadiene or nitrile adhesives are the most versatile of the general purpose rubber types, but they are less popular than neoprene based adhesives. Nitrile rubber elastomers are commonly used as both solvent based and waterborne adhesives and sealants. Nitrile adhesives are used to bond vinyl, other elastomers, and fabrics where good wear, oil and water resistance are important. Nitrile adhesives are also good for bonding vulcanized and unvulcanized rubbers to various surfaces.

Resulting Properties

The adhesive of this formula provides a fast and effective means for bonding flocking to leather substrates. It provides improved hand and a plush feel to very thin leather. The adhesive may also be used to produce a flocked covering effect for wallets and purses or to tighten loose grain in leather.
