Brian Chislea, application engineer for Dow Corning, is presenting a poster at IPC APEX EXPO 2017 in San Diego, Calif., that highlights how two new classes of advanced silicone adhesives are expanding design flexibility for advanced assembly solutions. Titled “New Silicone Adhesives for Advanced Assembly Solutions,” his presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb.15, 2017 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. and again from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. during the conference’s Design Track.
Reliable Adhesion to Various Substrates
In his presentation, Chislea will outline Dow Corning® Silicone Hot Melt Adhesive and Thermal Radical Cure technologies, which both deliver reliable adhesion to a broad range of substrates – including newer materials such as engineering plastics.
Instant Green Strength
Dow Corning® Silicone Hot Melt Adhesives are uniquely formulated to dispense easily and achieve instant green strength to allow faster assembly. The company’s innovative Thermal Radical Cure Adhesive is a simple, one-part silicone formulation that cures rapidly and at lower temperatures from the inside out to greatly accelerate processing, reduce energy use and lower material costs. Chislea’s presentation will also cover important design considerations when applying both materials, including pot life, adhesion strength, shear strength, UV exposure and substrate materials.
IPC APEX EXPO 2017 brings together leaders in the printed circuit and electronics manufacturing industries. The conference and exhibition are scheduled for Feb. 14 to 16 at the San Diego Convention Center.
