KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Eastman Chemical Company announced another addition to its non-phthalate plasticizer portfolio with Eastman Versafix™ plasticizer. Designed specifically for water-based adhesives, Eastman Versafix offers the optimal balance of functionality and value.
Formulated to provide necessary viscosity control and maximized low-temperature efficacy to water-based adhesives, Eastman Versafix helps to give adhesives much needed and desired elasticity. As a plasticizer that leverages the strengths of benzoate esters, Versafix is a versatile solution that does not require significant changes to the formulation process. It is ideal for use in market applications such as paper and cardboard tube winding; woodworking and cabinetry; consumer craft and wood glue; box and carton assembly; bag manufacturing; envelopes and labels; and laminates.
"Rising production costs are creating challenges for adhesive formulators and manufacturers as they try to keep costs under control without sacrificing product performance," said Carlos Alvarado, Eastman's Specialty Plasticizers business manager. "Eastman is responding to these challenges with innovative product offerings such as Eastman Versafix™ plasticizer. Versafix is a non-phthalate solution, that can help maximize performance, including improved open and set times, meeting FDA food contact clearances, while also providing optimal value. When used in water-based adhesives, this product provides the ease of processing and reduced formulation costs our clients want."
For more than 50 years, Eastman has produced innovative plasticizers that are used in a variety of applications. The versatile line of plasticizers includes many non-phthalate solutions to address the market's emerging regulatory needs and consumer preferences.
