Huntsman's mass balance certified (MCB) epoxy resin, ARALDITE®MBC is a key component in Rossignol's new "Essential" ski line.
The resin efficiently bonds wood, metal, and thermoplastic components, creating high-performance skis. The introduction of ARALDITE® resin by Huntsman has significantly reduced the carbon footprint of these skis during production.
REDcert2 Certified Bio-attribution
The REDcert
2 certified bio-attributed resin enabled Rossignolto move closer to its sustainability goals. The resin qualified by Rossignol is one of the first of 60 resins which are REDcert
2 certified from Huntsman’s Monthey, Switzerland production plant.
“
The REDcert2 certified ARALDITE® MBC resin is a 100% bio-attributed resin and brings 90% reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions, which makes it extremely beneficial to customers that target sustainability,” said Philippe Christou, Head of Environmental & Technology Intelligence.
“
We found alignment between the ambitions of Rossignol and Huntsman, especially when it comes to carbon neutrality. By using bio-attributed raw materials, ARALDITE® MBC resin offers greenhouse gas savings and has an appealing “drop-in” characteristic, meaning its nature and performance are the same as the standard fossil-based resin, ensuring no need for requalification.”
Huntsman also goes a step further to ensure the origin of the bio-feedstocks used in its processes is not done at the expense of the production of food or feed. Instead, the company sources bio-circular feedstocks derived from waste and residues of biological origin from agriculture, forestry, and related industries in addition to biodegradable fractions of industrial and municipal waste.
“
We want to make tomorrow possible with these MBC resins,” said Christou. “
These high-quality, high-performance products offer sustainably-certified solutions to lower your carbon footprint.”
