Nynas Launches Viscosity Modifiers for Sealant Formulations Nynas has launched NYFLEX® 201B and NYFLEX® 2005, refined process oils that act as a viscosity modifier in sealant formulations.

The new additions NYFLEX® 201B and NYFLEX® 2005 join process oils NYFLEX® 2120B and NYFLEX® 3011, further enhancing the companies’ cost efficient and compatible silicone fluid replacement portfolio. Naphthenic process oils reduce production costs and are a partial replacement of silicone fluids.

NYFLEX® Range - Meeting Silicone Fluids Requirements

NYFLEX® 201B has medium viscosity with low volatility whereas NYFLEX® 2005 has slightly lower viscosity. Both oils provide superior color stability and a low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) level.

Nynas utilizes hydrotreatment technology to refine naphthenic ensure the product is odorless, colorless and provide a unique UV stability.

The solvency of naphthenic oils is also a huge benefit providing Nyflex process oils a perfect compatibility with the polymers used in silicone sealants, such as polymethyl siloxane. The solvent power of Nynas naphthenic oils aids in silicone compatibility. Also the high proportion of Nyflex oil components can be added to silicone sealant formulations without bleeding.

NYFLEX® process oils are available globally in a range of viscosities, providing formulators with the security of supply and flexibility to design the exact silicone fluid to meet their purposes.
