Silicones (Si)
Silicone adhesives possess special properties when compared to others based on organic polymers. Silicone adhesives offer excellent electrical properties, low temperature flexibility, high temperature stability and display exceptional resistance to heat, chemicals, moisture and damages caused by weathering. Bonds created by silicone adhesives are capable of withstanding temperatures as high as 600⁰C. These adhesives can be engineered to be electrically conductive or to have high dielectric strength. Silicone adhesives are widely used in electrical and electronics, automotive, aerospace and construction industries. They are available as one component and two component systems and can be classified on the basis of the functional group attached to them e.g. vinyl functional, silanol functional or epoxy functional.
