Andisil® 189 Silane by AB Specialty Silicones is mercapto-functional silane used as a coupling agent in polysuflide and polyurethane caulks and sealants. It is useful in sulfur-cured and metal oxide-cured elastomers. It can be either added at the time of compounding or used to pretreat minerals beforehand. The lower levels of this sulfur-containing silane are used since it is efficient and fast. It improves the adhesion of polysuflide and polyurethane sealants to glass and metal surfaces. It enhances properties in mineral-reinforced products such as shoe soles and other rubber goods. Andisil® 189 has a shelf life of 2 years.
