SAIB 80%

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Celanese
SAIB 80% by Celanese is a high purity carbohydrate. It is produced by esterification of natural sugar with acetic and isobutyric anhydrides. SAIB 80% is an 80% solution of SAIB with 20% ethyl acetate (ethyl acetate purity min. 99.7%). It exhibits low volatility resulting in higher solids content and low color. This carbohydrate possesses compatibility with most polymers, resins, oils and waxes. It is employed as a modifier-extender leading to higher solids extending the film-forming polymer. The hardness of cellulose-nitrate films can be increased by the addition of SAIB. It improves flow properties and reduces surface imperfections. This sugar-derivative provides good color stability to heat & UV light and high thermal & hydrolytic stability. It is used in hot-melt adhesives for packaging of table flatware, tools and machine parts. SAIB 80% complies with AICS, DSL, IECSC, EINECS, ENCS, KECI, NZIoC, PICCS, TSCA and REACH. It is soluble in most organic solvents but insoluble in water.
