The adhesive industry is taking reasonable, controlled steps to develop adhesive systems based on renewable sources. This calls for innovation and collaboration between the new material developers and the adhesive formulators. Commercial bio-based materials now have a place in the formulator’s toolbox along with traditional petrochemical based products.
By replacing conventional base polymer and property additives with bio-based products, formulators can project a “green” image to companies that are increasingly interested in promoting their use of bio-based materials.
