Resulting Properties
Edge veneering and edge banding constitute a primary market for hot-melt adhesives which are based predominantly on EVA copolymer resins. For some applications, however, formulated polyamide hot melts are also used, particularly where exceptional heat resistance of the bond is required. A starting formulation for a low cost, general purpose EVA hot melt formulation for bonding wood veneer is given in the table above. The source of this formulation EVA Hot Melt for Both Wood and Plastic Veneer (Natural) is Pizzi, A. and Mittal, K.L., eds., Handbook of Adhesive Technology, Chapter 37, “Hot Melt Adhesives”, Pizzi, A., Marcel Dekker, New York, 2003.
