Resulting Properties
Ethyl cellulose adhesives adhere well, forming a tough bond to a variety of materials such as glass, leather, metals, cloth, and some plastics. They provide a relatively strong bond to polar substrates. Ethyl cellulose adhesives age fairly well.
The addition of polyvinyl acetate provides higher cohesive strength and somewhat higher temperature resistance. EVA adhesives demonstrate strong adhesive properties, but most importantly they set quickly by virtue of their hot melt character.
The plasticizers provide improved film formation and lower production costs.
