Eastman Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB-500-5) is a cellulose ester with high butyl content, low hydroxyl content and medium viscosity. It offers a wide range of solubility and compatibility. It is tolerant of nonpolar aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. It produces a relatively soft, flexible film requiring little or no plasticizer in many applications. Eastman CAB-500-5 is supplied as a dry, white free-flowing powder convenient to handle.

Resulting Properties

Cellulose butyrate coatings and adhesives adhere well, forming a tough bond to a variety of materials such as glass, leather, metals, cloth, and some plastics. They provide a relatively strong bond to polar substrates. The adhesive formulation provided above can be used for manufacturing coatings and heat sealing compounds.
