Applicable Base Polymer Properties
Natural rubber is generally available as a light brown, slightly viscous solvent solution or as a latex. It has poor elevated temperature resistance without vulcanization. It has good resistance to water and to mold, but poor resistance to oil, solvents, and low temperatures. It is often used in medical applications because of its low toxicity, but recent history has shown that certain individuals may be allergic to natural rubber latex.
