Resulting Properties
Waterborne Vinyl Chloride Heat Seal Coating Adhesive (D) for aluminum, paper, vinyl, and polyester substrates can be formulated with AW-875. For vinyl substrates, a formulation consisting simply of AW-875 and a coalescent is often satisfactory. For such surfaces as aluminum or polyester, the addition of a plasticizer or the alloying of AW-875 with a low Tg acrylic, such as UCAR Latex 173, greatly improves bond strength. The adhesive is coated on the substrate, dried, and later sealed with appropriate equipment, such as hot bar-type or dielectric sealers for vinyl substrates. The source of this formulation is Dow Chemcial.
