AkzoNobel Introduces Cobalt-free and Low-Cobalt Thermoset Accelerators

AkzoNobel is proud to present a new range of low-Cobalt and Cobalt-free accelerators for the thermoset market. Marketed under the name of Nouryact, these products offer more sustainable alternatives to traditional Cobalt octoate and Cobalt acetate.

The Nouryact accelerators are based on Copper, Manganese and Iron and can be used in most ambient cure systems. They allow for low-Cobalt and Cobalt-free curing of Unsaturated Polyester resins, including Orthophthalic-, Isophthalic-, Vinylester- and DCPD resins, while maintaining existing cycle times and mechanical properties.

AkzoNobel is committed to a Cobalt-free composites world. As a company of innovation, we are continuously working on other Cobalt-free alternatives, some of which already to be launched early 2011. It is our ambition to further complete our portfolio to service all thermoset applications.

The new Nouryact range of accelerators perfectly matches the strong eco profile of our Butanox® and Perkadox® phthalate-free curing agents.
