Top 3 Innovations Awarded by ASC at 3rd Annual Innovation Awards 2019

The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) held its 3rd annual Innovation Awards at the 2019 Annual Spring Convention in Philadelphia April 8-10, 2019. The Innovation awards recognize the top three innovations from the adhesive and sealant industry.

The Innovation awards recognize the top three innovations from the adhesive and sealant industry. Independent judges reviewed the following categories and weightings as part of their review process:
  • Science and Innovation (30%)
  • Applicability & Impact (10%)
  • Impact of the Technology Relative to the State of the Art (30%)
  • Qualifications, Experience and Capabilities (20%)
  • Significant Milestone (10%)

Winners of 3rd Annual Innovation Awards 2019


ASC judges reviewed submittal packages and the following were the winners of the 2019 awards:
  • The primary award was presented to Deborah Moore, Product Development Technical Lead at HENKEL. The Development from Henkel was entitled “Loctite Universal Structural Bonders Powered by Hybrid Technology,” which is a solution for OEM engineers looking for ways to improve assembly applications.
  • 1st Runner Up went to Dow with a development called “UV Curable Primer that Enables Hard to Bond INFUSE™ Olefin Block Copolymer Midsole Foams in High Performance Footwear.”
  • 2nd runner up went to Sartomer for a development titled “An electron Beam curable Resealable Adhesive that only sticks to itself.”

Interviews with all three winners will be available in the coming days as part of the ASC/ICIS post-convention digital magazine, which will be distributed digitally to the industry and posted online at ascouncil.org.

Unique Developments for Adhesives and Sealants


We were pleased with the quality of the submittals for the 3rd annual program in which we recognized unique developments for our industry,” indicated Steve Duren, ASC Senior Director, and lead for developing the Innovation Awards.

“We will improve and sharpen our program for 2020; thank you to all that submitted in 2019. Congratulations to Sartomer and Dow as runners up and Henkel as our 1st place winner for the 2019 best innovations.”
