DUBLIN, Ohio -- Ashland Performance Materials, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), has announced the Enguard BP 6200 ARF series vinyl ester bonding pastes have received Germanischer Lloyd (GL) approval as a "duromeric adhesive" that complies with or exceeds applicable requirements.

Enguard BP 6200ARF series bonding pastes are especially recommended for the manufacture of wind turbine blades and adhesion of joints in other demanding applications where high toughness is required. Enguard BP 6200 ARF bonding pastes are based on an epoxy modified vinyl ester resin, with excellent mechanical properties. They are pre-accelerated bonding pastes, cured with standard methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and no special peroxides are needed. These bonding pastes contain color indicator to indicate proper peroxide mixing, and rheology has been designed to have very good sagging resistance and excellent flow properties when using pump dispensing equipment.

Enguard BP6200 ARF series includes the following products:

  • Geltime, 2% MEKP
  • Enguard BP 6200 ARF 110 ± 10 min DIN 16945
  • Enguard BP 6201 ARF 60 ± 10 min DIN 16945
  • Enguard BP 6202 ARF 25 ± 5 min DIN 16945
  • "Ashland Performance Materials is excited to offer high-performance products into the global wind energy market that bring value and productivity improvements to the customer," said Kevin Lambrych, Global Wind Energy program manager, Ashland Performance Materials. “We are pleased to add the Enguard BP 6200 ARF series to our portfolio of GL-approved products along with Derakane™ vinyl ester resins, Aropol™ unsaturated polyester resins and Maxguard™ gelcoats used in the fabrication of wind blades today."
