BEACHWOOD -- BASF Construction Chemicals recently completed a multi-million dollar expansion at its Brighton, Colorado, Polyurethane Sealants and Adhesives production facility. This expansion took approximately one year to complete and increases the plant's overall production capacity by more than 25 percent, with the addition of a complete process train and additional storage capability.

"As the market leader in this technology, it is essential that we continue to invest in technology, and the necessary manufacturing and packaging equipment to keep us in a leadership position," said John Salvatore, CEO of BASF Construction Chemicals North America. "This capital investment is very exciting and one of many that continues to demonstrate our commitment to our customers and to the industry.  With BASF as our parent company we have the strength, financial resources and long term vision to continue to invest in all areas, including manufacturing, technology and attractive market opportunities.

" The increase in production and capacity will help us maximize service to our customers and ensure that we can consistently meet the increasing demand for our market leading products," said Doug MacRae, head of the Building Systems business line of BASF Construction Chemicals.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the facility on Jan. 24, 2008, to mark the official start up of production in the new section of the plant.  On hand to take part in the ceremony were: John Salvatore, CEO, BASF Construction Chemicals North America; Dr. Bernhard Hofmann, global president, BASF Construction Chemicals; Rich Kurey, director of operations, BASF Construction Chemicals; and employees of the Brighton plant.

"This is a proud moment for our Brighton facility," said Kurey. "This plant has always been a top performer, but this expansion will allow us to become even more efficient and effective. Many key employees have worked exceptionally hard to complete this project and we are all looking forward to seeing the positive results."
