BASF to Present a Wide Range of Chemical Intermediates for Applications in Adhesive Industry at Chemspec India

MUMBAI, India -- BASF will present a wide range of chemical intermediates for applications in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, paint and coatings and other industries at Chemspec India. Themed "We Create Chemistry", BASF's booth will exhibit specialty chemicals, intermediates and system solutions from across the globe.

Commenting about BASF's participation in Chemspec, Mr. Prasad Chandran, Chairman BASF Companies in India and Head South Asia, said, "BASF has a long association with India and a strong customer focus. Propionic Acid

Propionic Acid is mainly used in food, feed, and grain preservation. It is also widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals, crop protection agents, solvents, and plastics. BASF is a leading supplier of Propionic Acid with production facilities at its integrated sites globally.

PolyTHF

BASF's PolyTHF is an important intermediate in the manufacturing of Spandex fibers and Thermoplastic & Cast Polyurethane Elastomers for highly abrasion-resistant and flexible hoses, films and cable sheathings, skateboard wheels and inline skates. BASF produces PolyTHF from a worldwide production network spanning Asia, North America region and Europe.

Baxxodur®

Under the Baxxodur brand, BASF sells a broad range of curing agents for professional epoxy resin processing. BASF has many years of expertise in this area and produces the world's most comprehensive portfolio of amine-based curing agents. Major applications of Baxxodur products are composites, construction chemicals and adhesives. BASF also offers ready-to-use customized Baxxodur systems for producing epoxy-based composite parts for the rotor blades for the wind energy industry. Each system consists of a carefully designed Baxxodur curing-agent formulation and the appropriate epoxy-resin formulation called Baxxores.

  • With the Baxxodur systems which consist of a resin compound and a curing-agent compound, fiber-reinforced component parts can be produced that feature low weight and exceptionally high mechanical strength as well as chemical and thermal resistance.
  • The curing agents are tailor made to make the manufacturing process up to 30 per cent more efficient compared to conventional processes. The result is a sustainable increase of productivity.
