BASF to Strengthen its Photoinitiator Business by Investing at its Mortara Site

Published on 2013-12-31. Author : SpecialChem

BASF has announced plans to strengthen its production site at Mortara, Italy, by optimizing the production network for its photoinitiator business. Through investing in the Mortara site and making efficient use of its existing production capacity, BASF intends to relocate parts of its photoinitiator production from its Ludwigshafen site in Germany to Mortara.

These developments are designed to enhance the competitiveness of photoinitiator production at our Mortara site. They also provide further demonstration of BASF’s commitment to its photoinitiator business.

BASF has built up a leading position in the UV Coatings & Inks market, with a strong portfolio comprising photoinitiators, light stabilizers and UV resins supported by solid technical service. Photoinitiators speed up the drying process for UV curable coatings, inks and adhesives by triggering chemical reactions upon exposure to UV light.

To ensure that its customers always benefit from the most advanced photoinitiator technology and products, BASF is committed to fighting all cases of patent infringement. Earlier this year, it took firm steps to successfully stop the sale and distribution of counterfeit versions of its Irgacure® 819 photoinitiator product.
