Leverkusen/Greater Noida -- Bayer MaterialScience has
inaugurated its first integrated Systems House in the Indian Subcontinent,
BaySystems India, at Greater Noida, near New Delhi. The region is a very
important market for the world market leader in polyurethanes, which is
currently in the process of developing its global network of polyurethane
Systems Houses. "Together with our existing and new customers we
want to develop the PU market in the region, but we also aim to increase
the awareness for polyurethane materials and to promote the use of PU
in a wide variety of applications. Our global BaySystems network allows
us to bring the latest PU innovations and applications into local markets
very quickly", says Peter Vanacker, Head of the Business Unit Polyurethanes
and Member of the Executive Committee of Bayer MaterialScience AG. BaySystems
India will provide ready-to-use solutions for such industry sectors as
automotive, footwear and sports equipment, mattresses and furniture, and
heat insulation foams in the construction, refrigeration and hot water
industries. The company already has a development center in Greater Noida
to support customers in different industries. The center is capable of
handling testing of materials and fine tuning of PU systems to OEM requirements.
"The Systems House will cater to an ever increasing number of domestic
and foreign players who are setting up manufacturing facilities in India.
There are also an increasing number of local firms that are aiming to
develop overseas markets and we have the experience and global network
to fully support their initiatives. For these customers, we now offer
an even extended service and expertise to serve them, practically at their
doorstep", explained Frank Grunert, Head of Marketing and Innovation,
Business Unit Polyurethanes, Bayer MaterialScience Asia Pacific.
Stephan Gerlich, Managing Director of Bayer MaterialScience in India
and Country Head for the Bayer Group in India, adds, "In India, demand
for polyurethane is growing at over ten percent annually. The size of
the Indian PU market was approximately 120,000 metric tons in 2006 and
this is expected to reach 250,000 metric tons by 2014. With support of
the new systems house, we want to secure a large portion of this growth."
