Bostik Finalizes Acquisition of Nitta Gelatin’s Adhesives Business

Bostik Strengthen its Adhesive Business in Japan with New AcquisitionBostik finalizes acquisition of Nitta Gelatin Adhesive business on February 1, 2021 and is now fully integrated as Bostik-Nitta. The joint venture (JV) that was initiated in 2018, includes the creation of the Nara plant, the first one for Bostik in Japan. This new world-scale plant will enable the Bostik-Nitta JV to support the growing markets of diapers, hygiene, packaging, labelling, transportation and electronics.

Developing Innovative & Sustainable Solutions


The operations started on September 14, 2020 and represents a significant milestone for both Arkema & Bostik to strengthen the adhesive technology development by supporting key customers in the region. The Bostik-Nitta JV responds to the growth of its customers in the Japanese hygiene market by including several production lines dedicated to adhesives for the nonwoven market for hygiene applications, and to the industrial adhesives markets.

This investment is in line with Bostik’s and Arkema’s growth and geographical expansion strategy by developing innovative and sustainable solutions to be more responsive and improve customer intimacy in the Asian region.
