Ceramacast™ 584 High-Temp Quick-Set Potting Compound Now Available

Ceramacast™ 584, a new high temperature, quick-setting ceramic compound developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to pot heaters and thermocouples and cast small, high strength parts used in applications to 2800 ? (1535 ?).


Ceramacast™ 584 is a magnesium-oxide- based, silica-bonded, quick-setting ceramic compound ideal for potting high-temperature electrical components such as cartridge heaters and temperature sensors and casting small high-temperature components to 2800°F(1535 °C).

A new high temperature, quick-setting ceramic compound

Ceramacast™ 584 exhibits exceptional electrical and mechanical properties. The dielectric strength and volume resistivity are 100 volts/mil and 10 to the 9th power ohm-cm, respectively. The compressive strength is 4,500 psi and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is 6.5 (11.7) ppm/°F (°C).

Ceramacast™ 584 is supplied as a kit consisting of the 584-P Powder and 584-L Liquid Binder. It is easily mixed to a paste-like consistency in a ratio of 100 parts powder to 25 parts liquid binder, setting within 5-10 minutes at room temperature. A full cure is achieved by step curing for 2 hours each at 200 °F and 250 °F, respectively. Cured product exhibits a porosity of less than 6% and shrinkage of less than 4% at 1000 °F.

Ceramacast™ 584 is supplied from stock in quart, gallon and five gallon kits.
