Published on 2010-05-18. Author : SpecialChem

With 25 years experience in the adhesives industry, Chemique Adhesives and Sealants Ltd offers one of the most comprehensive product portfolios available to woodworking and furniture manufacturers. With the recent acquisition of Protak (GB) Ltd, Chemique's popular water based adhesive range was joined by hot melts, PVAs, and membrane press adhesives creating a complete bonding solution for the furniture industry.

Membrane Press Adhesives

Protak membrane press adhesives have been specially developed for the production of vinyl wrapped doors. This range of one and two component cross linking adhesives offer increased productivity, reduced pressing times and excellent heat resistance. The glue line can be re-activated after several days, giving greater production flexibility. With the increasing trend towards high gloss foils, Chemique has recently launched three new high gloss membrane press adhesives that produce an excellent surface finish without the problems of the "orange peel effect".

Hot Melt Adhesives

From mattress manufacture to profile wrapping, the Protak range of hot melt adhesives is suitable for a diverse range of applications. They offer open times from as little as a few seconds to several minutes to suit the needs of the production process.

The Protak PVA range of adhesives offers various different grades suitable for both interior and exterior applications. They offer good open times and high bond strengths as well as drying to a clear bond line. Chemique's PVA adhesives can be used in a variety of applications from carcass assembly to dowel insertion.

Water Based and PU Adhesives

Chemique also supplies a range of water based and polyurethane adhesives suitable for use in the furniture industry. The company's water based adhesives are widely used in the manufacture of office seating as they provide a choice of open times and a flexible but strong bond line. Chemique's range of polyurethane adhesives have been used in the production of lightweight honeycomb panels used in the manufacture of office furniture, doors, and partitioning.

On the acquisition of Protak (GB) Ltd and the introduction of the Protak brand into Chemique's existing portfolio, Managing Director, Mick McMullen said: "This has been a very positive time for the Company, the Protak purchase has enabled us to expand our product portfolio ensuring that we continue to be extremely focused on giving our customers the full industrial adhesive package".
