COIM to Expand Production Capacity of Low-free Isocyanates Pre-polymers

Published on 2013-12-24. Author : SpecialChem

Settimo Milanese, Italy -- COIM, global polyurethane chemicals producer, announced that it is planning to expand its capacity of low free isocyanates pre-polymers (Imuthane® and Versathane®) with a geographic focus on the Asia Pacific region. Currently COIM manufacture low free isocyanates pre-polymers in its plant of Paulsboro, NJ (formerly owned by Air Products).

Global demand for low free isocyanates pre-polymers products is growing due to more stringent regulations as well as increasing usage of polyurethanes in do-it-yourself applications. "This feasibility study begins four years after the acquisition of the polyurethane pre-polymers business from Air Products," said Lucio Siano, President of COIM USA. "We are now encouraged to explore the use of this technology in several polyurethanes applications while expanding our offer of low free pre-polymers. Expanding capacity will position COIM to meet the increasing global demand and demonstrate its commitment to continuing investing in polyurethane specialty products".

Decisions regarding the capacity or capital required were not disclosed.
