HORGEN, Switzerland -- The Dow Chemical Company announces a capacity increase of 15% at the Company's acrylic dispersion plant in Villers-Saint-Paul, France. This increase will help support customers' ambitions for business growth in a range of products.

Construction work began this month and production start-up is scheduled for Q3 2012. It is expected that the plant will reach its full capacity for manufacture of polyacrylic acid products at the beginning of 2013.

"Achieving approval for this investment is a reinforcement of the confidence we have in the important role our acrylic solution polymers can play in creating the construction products of the future," said Olivier Maillard, General Manager for Dow Construction Chemicals in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). "The development is also an indication of the positive support offered by Dow to the European region and the Dow Construction Chemicals business as a whole."

The capacity upgrade at Villers-Saint-Paul will benefit customers who are seeking innovative binder technology to use in applications such as high-performance nonwovens. Additionally, it will focus on fast-growing applications in the thermal insulation and concrete admixture market.

"This capacity expansion is a major milestone in a development which will allow Dow Construction Chemicals to strengthen its participation in these specific segments," added Maillard. "And we continue to look for further opportunities to be well positioned and help our customers achieve their growth plans by offering high quality, specialist products wherever they operate around the globe. This latest expansion in EMEA is a great example of that commitment."

The Villers-Saint-Paul plant also produces additives for a variety of other Dow's businesses, mainly high-performing water-soluble polymers, designed to improve performance properties of detergent formulations via anti-scaling and anti-redeposition benefits for a full spectrum of household and institutional applications.
