Dow's UCAR Emulsion Systems Announces Sales Control on all UES Latex Products

Published on 2005-01-24. Author : SpecialChem

Cary, NC -- UCAR Emulsion Systems (UES), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is announcing sales control for all latex products in North America and Puerto Rico.

Effective immediately, UES will implement a sales control program for its UCAR™ and NEOCAR™ products and UCAR POLYPHOBE™ rheology modifiers due to shortages in the availability of several key raw materials used in the manufacture of these latex products. The supply of monomers in particular has reached a critical point, as several global suppliers have declared force majeure or sales allocations. UES is taking this action to ensure reliable supply to meet contract commitments.

UES's sales control is expected to remain in effect throughout 2005. UES does expect to be able to meet contracted volume commitments and will continue in its efforts to monitor the situation and keep all customers updated as appropriate.

Customers will be contacted by their account managers with more details.

The UCAR Emulsion Systems business manufactures and markets emulsions for architectural and industrial coatings as well as for building products, textiles, traffic paint and adhesives. UCAR and NEOCAR latexes, and UCAR POLYPHOBE rheology modifiers can be formulated into a wide variety of products to enhance performance properties. UES operates at 13 production facilities globally, including five operating in North America.
