DSM Composite Resins Increases further Resin and Gelcoat Prices

Schaffhausen, Switzerland -- DSM Composite Resins, Europe's largest unsaturated polyester resin producer, is increasing the prices of all its unsaturated polyester resin and gelcoat products by EURO 100/ton as of January 1, 2005.

Gertjan de Koning, Business Director DSM Structural Resins Europe, states that the prices for glycols and maleic increased substantially. Eventually the prices will stabilize but we expect this to be at a structurally higher level.

This situation is certainly not eased by the fact that many of the main raw materials are in tight supply. The recent upturn in demand combined with no new production capacity brought on stream for a number of years, and none planned in the immediate future, explain that the market for the main raw materials will remain short also for the coming year. Most raw materials are actually on strict allocation. Because of its excellent long-term relationships with raw material suppliers, DSM has been able so far to fulfil all of its increased need for feedstock. Prices for above-budgeted purchases may however be relatively high.

We would like to confirm to all our customers that DSM Composite Resins remains fully committed to the composites industry. We are advising our customers to contact their account manager for further information.
