"DuPont is a key strategic partner in solving many of the oil and gas industry's most serious challenges in safety, reliability and productivity," said Rene Garza, global marketing manager, energy and material handling - DuPont™ Kalrez® and Vespel®. "DuPont oil and gas offerings include high-performance solutions that help customers drive growth while addressing these challenges."

DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer parts and Viton® fluoroelastomers offer high-performance sealing solutions and increased protection against hazardous chemicals at high temperatures. Kalrez® 0090 was specifically developed to withstand repeated rapid gas decompression, and it obtained the best possible rating in NORSOK M-710 external testing. It has proven chemical resistance to sour multi-phase fluids containing H2S and has high modulus and extrusion resistance. Kalrez® Spectrum™ 0040 is a versatile and reliable alternative to silicone and other low-temperature elastomers, and delivers a step-change in low-temperature sealing performance by fighting leaks and resisting chemical attacks at temperatures down to -42°C.

Pump reliability technology can be enhanced with DuPont™ Vespel® parts by replacing metal and composite materials used for pump wear rings and throat bushings. Vespel® parts are the ultimate solution in chemical and creep resistance for both valve and mechanical plates and seals, as well as for pump and compressor components, gaskets, thrust washers, bearings and bushings. Using Vespel® parts can allow for increased mechanical seal life, reduced risk of seizure, increased efficiency and reduced repair costs.

Addressing safety issues in oil and gas, DuPont™ Kevlar® and Nomex® fibers from DuPont Protection Technologies provide thermal, mechanical and chemical protection to oil and gas workers. The benefits of Kevlar® include providing the reinforcement layer in thermoplastic umbilicals and flexible risers, as well as other innovative safety applications such as escape chutes for offshore installations. DuPont Sustainable Solutions serves the oil and gas industry with consulting and technology services that help companies reach safety, sustainability and operating goals.

Another product to be featured, DuPont™ Pipelon®, is a high-performance engineering resin used in non-metallic pipe applications to reduce hydrocarbon permeation and to improve chemical and corrosion resistance. It offers cost competitive and sustainable solutions for pipe systems in demanding environments through lower permeation, higher use temperatures, improved chemical resistance, easy and fast installation and higher operating pressures than traditional materials currently used in these applications.

DuPont is known as the innovator of most of the standard practices for coating pipe with epoxy used in the world today. DuPont™ STREAMAX™ is an antifouling and anticorrosion internal coating system used in production tubulars that provides flow assurance and corrosion protection in extreme environments over a wide temperature range.
