DuPont highlighted opportunities for collaborative medical device partnership with its DuPont™ Liveo™ Healthcare Solutions and DuPont™ Intexar™ brands at MEDICA 2021.
Technical representatives discussed the company’s partnership with TNO Holst Centre and Pronat Medical who have designed and produced the Nighthawk™ wearable adhesive patch.
The concept patch combines DuPont material solutions for the medical device market, through Intexar™ stretchable materials, including thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films and stretchable conductive inks, with DuPont™ Liveo™ silicone skin adhesives, suitable for attaching wearable devices to the body, and Liveo™ biosensing technology. The combination of these innovative materials in a connected wearable medical patch offers conformability, biocompatibility, breathability and patient comfort.
Innovative Technologies for Wearable Medical Devices
Innovative technologies for wearable medical devices are highly valued because of the huge market growth potential for such devices and the need to improve their performance to positively impact patient comfort and compliance. DuPont offers a collaborative ecosystem for designers and manufacturers to work with the company’s medical device experts and innovative material technologies to create next-generation wearable devices.
Attendees also heard from DuPont Healthcare TS&D/R&D medical devices expert Alexis Bobenrieth, Ph.D., during the MEDICA DISRUPT “Diagnostics and health monitoring” session.
In his talk, “Partnering to enable next-generation smart wearable patches,” Bobenrieth described how DuPont worked with technology partners to develop a wearable smart patch that is ready to be commercialized; he also explained how the DuPont Toolbox can help enable next-generation wearable design that improves device performance, wearability and patient comfort throughout the lifecycle of the wearer.
