Eastman Highlights Regalite C6100 Hydrocarbon Resin, a Multi-Purpose Tackifier for Nonwoven Adhesives Applications

Published on 2005-05-19. Author : SpecialChem

Kingsport, Tenn., U.S.A. -- Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) highlighted its Regalite C6100 hydrocarbon resin for nonwoven adhesives, at INDEX 2005 in Geneva, Switzerland April 12-15, at booth #2554.

Tackifier resins are added to base polymers and elastomers in adhesives to improve their sticking properties. Clear and odorless, Regalite C6100 is an ideal choice for use in high-performance adhesive applications for hygiene products such as diapers, adult incontinence and feminine care because it is compatible with a wide range of hot melt polymers, including SIS, SBS, EVA and SEBS, and it provides excellent adhesion and thermal stability.

"In alignment with our commitment to provide the nonwovens industry with products that enhance the performance of adhesives, Regalite C6100 provides improved compatibility and thermal stability in a broad range of hot melt polymers, making it an excellent choice for demanding nonwovens applications," says Robert Lovegrove, global nonwovens business segment manager, Eastman.

For consumers, the bright, crisp look and feel of hygiene products conveys sterility and effectiveness. Regalite C6100 has been engineered to maintain its clarity for extended times when processed at high temperatures, and it effectively reduces the discoloring of the adhesive, enhancing the look of nonwoven products and maintaining product integrity.

Formulating hot melt adhesives with Regalite C6100 also creates significant production efficiencies and cost-savings. The low adhesive viscosity and low volatility of Regalite C6100 provide greater consistency and predictability in the application and performance of adhesives over their shelf life. It conveys excellent spray properties to adhesive products and a superior balance of shear and adhesion, critical to the overall performance and appearance of nonwoven products. Imparting the proper balance of cohesive properties as well as tack, Regalite C6100 is well suited for elastic attachment applications.

Regalite C6100 is produced in Nanjing, China by Nanjing Yangzi Eastman Chemical Ltd., primarily for the Asia-Pacific market.
