Thermal Label Materials

Thermal paper, commonly used in the retail sector for receipt paper and weighing scale labels, has traditionally used Bisphenol A (BPA) as a color developer. However, new EU legislation coming into force requires all thermal paper sold in Europe to be free of BPA after 2 January 2020.

Get Ready for 2020

UPM Raflatac has anticipated this change with a full range of uncoated and top-coated BPA-free thermal label materials for most typical end-use requirements. It also offers bisphenol-free and total phenol-free label products for more specific end-user demands.

Jon Lenck, Director, Business Segment VIP & Prime, EMEIA, says:

“It is important to stay a step ahead of legislation, which is why we are ready to offer a full range of BPA-free thermal label papers well in advance of the deadline. If you have any concerns about which product is right for you, get in touch and we’ll be happy to provide guidance.”
