FEICA Validates Test Method to Measure Free Monomeric Isocyanate in Low Ranges

Published on 2019-07-22. Edited By : SpecialChem

feica-testmethod-validation FEICA has signed off the Validation Report of the CURRENTA Test Method for the accurate measurement of very low contents of free monomeric isocyanate in mixtures.

New Validated Test Method for Measuring Isocyanates

There was no harmonized or validated test method available in Europe until now to determine very low ranges of free isocyanate content in given formulations. FEICA working with members and CURRENTA Analytics are pleased to report that we now have a validated test method able to measure isocyanates down to 0.01% to 0.15% range.

The CURRENTA Test Method is particularly accurate for the determination of very low content (in the range of 0.01% to 0.15%) of free diisocyanate (MDI, TDI, HDI and IPDI) in a complex mixture. Round robin tests by FEICA member companies confirmed the accuracy of the CURRENTA Test Method, its robustness and reproducibility.

CURRENTA HPLC-MS/MS CAM-0642303-18E - FEICA Test Method

FEICA has adopted the method as the most advanced available to date and it should therefore be the preferred method for the measurement of free monomeric isocyanate in adhesives, sealants and one-component foams.

On 15 May 2019, FEICA and CURRENTA signed off the validation report for the Test Method, confirming its reliability and acceptance in the industry. The next step will be exploring the potential to transform the method into a CEN standard.

The validated “CURRENTA HPLC-MS/MS CAM-0642303-18E - FEICA Test Method” is now available to be used by industry. FEICA member companies benefit from a discount under the FEICA CAM-0642303-18E license.
