Published on 2005-01-06. Author : SpecialChem

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) announced a worldwide price increase of 18 percent where contracts allow of its KP-140® specialty additive. The increase takes effect with all shipments from January 10, 2005, or as contracts allow. This price increase is necessary to keep pace with escalating global raw material and energy costs.

KP-140 specialty additive acts as a plasticizer and de-airing system diluent. It is used in floor polish applications as a leveling agent, in plastisols such as water-based adhesives, inks, and paints to reduce viscosity, and in textile applications as a biodegradable, non-silicone antifoam agent.

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation is the world's leading producer of certain specialty chemicals for such applications as water treatment, household cleaners, flame retardants, polymer stabilizers, fire suppressants, and performance products. The stock of the company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
