Celanese will spend 147 million euros to acquire the activities of the Swiss chemist.

On Monday December 16, the European Commission gave its green light to the repurchase by Celanese of European emulsions and global emulsion powders business from Clariant. The amount of the operation, announced in September, reaches 147 million euros. "The competing analysis of the Commission showed that the commercial activities of Clariant and Celanese do not recut because Celanese does not operate in the field of emulsions and emulsion powders", underlined Brussels in an official statement.

The two activities of the Swiss chemist Clariant employ nearly 700 people, and recorded last year a sales turnover of 300 million euros. The emulsion powders of Clariant occupy the third world rank, while its emulsions are at the second European rank. In September, Celanese had indicated to expect that this acquisitions will contribute positively to its result as of next year.
