Hexcel’s New Epoxy Adhesive Film for Marine Composite StructuresHexcel has launched HexBond™ 679, a low temperature, fast-cure epoxy adhesive film for marine composite structures. HexBond 679 delivers outstanding bonding performance in sandwich structures and offers significant cycle time reductions with its short-cure cycles.

HexBond 679 – Fast-cure Adhesive with High Peel Strength

HexBond™ 679 is fully compatible with the HexPly® M79 prepreg range. The adhesive cures in four hours at 80˚C/176˚F or eight hours at 70˚C/158˚F. HexBond™ 679 films provide extremely high lap shear and peel strength performance, as well as superior shelf-life of up to six weeks at 23˚C.

HexPly® M79 prepregs and HexBond™ 679 adhesive films allow boatbuilders to increase build rates with reduced heating and cooling times.

Low Void Content with Improved Mechanical Properties

Unidirectional (UD) carbon tapes can be laminated with reduced debulking steps in combination with Hexcel’s innovative air venting Grid Technology HexPly® M79 to produce void contents less than one percent irrespective of laminate thickness.

Naval architects and marine design engineers can further optimize highly loaded composite structures due to HexBond™ 679 adhesive film’s low void contents and improved mechanical properties.

HexBond™ 679 adhesive film has received DNV-GL Type approval as part of Hexcel’s latest accreditation program.
