Isolast® J9876: Unrivalled media resistance

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions launches Isolast® J9876. It gives the most comprehensive media resistance at elevated temperatures of any perfluoroelastomer on the market.

Seals in Isolast® J9876 give extended life in aggressive high-temperature environments and an optimized cost to performance ratio, meaning that the compound can be specified over a wide range of applications. Equipment suppliers and process managers can benefit from the advantages of using a single material for various applications: reduced stocking, simplified procurement and prevention of early failure due to fitment of a seal in the incorrect compound.

"This new material represents the next generation of Isolast®, our proprietary perfluoroelastomer," says Muzaffer Sheikh, Isolast® Product Manager. "It is engineered to provide a balance between outstanding thermal performance and compatibility to virtually all media. Its flexibility means that equipment manufacturers and processers can select it for all their demanding sealing needs."

Optimized cost to performance ratio

Isolast® J9876 has a continuous operating temperature range from -7°C to + 275°C/ +19°F to +527°F with occasional peaks up to +315°C/ +599°F. Specifically developed to cover applications in mixed chemical streams including acids, bases, amines, steam, ethylene and propylene oxides, the material's unrivalled media resistance at high temperatures means it has excellent long-term physical property retention. The compound is available in all O-Ring sizes, as gaskets, molded parts or rubber-to-metal bonded components including door and gate seals. It is suitable for mechanical seals, chemical processing systems, pumps, valves, power generation equipment, refineries and semiconductor applications not directly exposed to plasma sources.

The new material is part of the Isolast® range of proprietary perfluoroelastomers from Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. In addition to this universal material the range includes a number of compounds specifically engineered for the requirements of the chemical processing, semiconductor fabrication and oil & gas industries.
