Keenan Auto Body Endorses LORD Corporation's Consolidator Program as a Key to Continued Growth

Cary, NC -- LORD Corporation, maker of Fusor Automotive Repair Adhesives - the leading metal and composite bonding solution for automotive body repair - has long partnered with body shops around the country to provide training and OEM recommended products. But, as some companies have found out, the benefits are huge for those integrating the Fusor program on a consolidator level.

Case in point is Keenan Auto Body, a Multi Store Operator (MSO) with eight locations throughout the greater Philadelphia, Pa. area. Having used Fusor products since the late 1990s, Michael W. LeVasseur, Keenan Auto Body Vice President, C.O.O., said they made a decision in 2004 to exclusively use the adhesive in their shops to reduce cycle times on panel replacements and plastic repairs because they carry a lifetime warranty for the bond and corrosion protection.

"Fusor products are recommended by the manufacturers, LORD offers great technical support and the adhesives are easy to use as well as perform as advertised," said LeVasseur. "As such, the decision to switch to Fusor products exclusively was a no-brainer."

LeVasseur said the Fusor Consolidator Program is key to Keenan Auto Body's continued growth. Not only does LORD Corporation help Keenan Auto Body standardize the production process at all of their company store locations, it guarantees that the technicians know what to expect from the product.

"The main benefit of the Fusor Consolidator program is mobility and standardization," said LeVasseur. "If I move a tech from one store to the next, the products and training are the same. Also, if a vehicle is repaired at one location and we happen to see it again at another location, our team is familiar with the products and processes used for the earlier repair. Not only do we benefit with increased efficiency, but the owner benefits with a better repair."

As a member of the Fusor Consolidator program, Keenan Auto Body receives manual guns supplied at no charge; in-shop hands-on training and repair videos; panel bonding, plastic repair and seam sealing Fusor Repair Procedures (FRP); I-CAR Training Alliance program for 1 Gold Class point (ASE certified, $30 per tech); personalized "best practice" procedures to ensure consistency in repairs; and lift of all competitive products.

Yet another key to successful growth is finding and training the right people. Keenan Auto Body has a proactive training program and even establishes mentors to ensure growth of their people. As a member of the Fusor Consolidator Program, Keenan Auto Body also has access to ongoing training from LORD Corporation. In addition to visiting and offering in-house training to body shops all over the country, LORD Corporation was the first adhesive company to offer such curriculum by the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) through the Industry Training Alliance program and has held this status since 2001. Technicians who complete the hands-on Fusor 001 Bonding/Repair Curriculum qualify to earn I-CAR Gold Class Points, while learning valuable skills which improve quality and reduce cycle times in the repair process.

"Having added two new stores this year, amounting to a total of more than 100 employees corporate wide, we have a long-term plan for controlled growth by adding one location every 12 to 18 months. Training and consistency are key," said LeVasseur. "We take pride in offering state-of-the-art service, so the hands-on demonstrations and ongoing classes offered by LORD Corporation really make a difference, and we have never had any issues with our repair technicians using a product incorrectly. Further, the ability to earn continuing education points through I-CAR is a plus."

According to Joe Rodriguez, LORD Zone Manager, LORD Corporation initially held lunchtime clinics at all of the Keenan Auto Body Shops - five at the time -- when they started using Fusor products. The program then evolved into ongoing training every 30 to 45 days and the training continues today with the new locations. For example, a majority of the technicians recently gathered in one of the shops designated as the "bumper repair center."

"Shops and insurance companies alike benefit when the bumper can be fixed instead of replaced," said Rodriguez. "With the right training, a body shop can create a profit center with repairs such as bumper covers, while gaining favor with the insurance companies since it is cheaper than replacement."

LeVasseur said that being a member of the Fusor Consolidator Program is likely to help Keenan Auto Body meet yet another industry challenge - the insurance industry's trend toward requiring shops to be sponsored by a dealership in order to repair vehicles. Since LORD Corporation's adhesive technology is applied on millions of vehicles on automotive assembly lines every year and they have been instrumental in developing more OEM approved repair procedures than any other adhesive company in the auto repair business, using Fusor products offers a distinct advantage.

"We look forward to continued growth and the ability to serve consumers with the best repairs possible," said LeVasseur. "We recently established a Bumper Repair Center at one of our locations with the partnership and support of LORD Fusor to increase profits for the Keenan organization."
