Non-woven medical tapes are used for several purposes,
including wound coverings, neuromuscular (TENS) stimulation and EKG electrodes,
as well as protective pads and covers.
These applications often require
low-profile, conformable tapes with sensitive adhesives. To meet these
requirements, MACtac Technical Products has designed TM9478 and 9479,
non-woven medical tapes with a hypoallergenic medical grade adhesive.
Both tapes are constructed with facestocks of 2.4 ounce non-woven, spunlaced
polyester Sontara. The facestock is coated on one side with an acrylic-based,
hypoallergenic medical grade adhesive, and protected by a 70# densified,
semi-bleached kraft release liner with a silicone release system. The
TM9478 has a flesh-colored facestock, while the TM9479 is white.
"Combining
our medical grade adhesives with the Sontara facestock results in a unique
combination of strength and porosity," explains Tim Mlnarik, Mactac
Technical Products marketing manager. "The combination of a breathable
facestock and an aggressive, skin-friendly adhesive system allows for
patient comfort in applications with sustained periods on the skin."
