Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd., Chiyoda-ku Tokyo Japan; President Hitoshi Ochi; is planning to launch a new business called Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites, Inc. on April 1st 2013, by integrating its existing group companies in the United States, Grafil, Inc., Sacramento California; President Masayoshi Ozeki; a manufacturing and sales subsidiary of carbon fiber, and Newport Adhesives and Composites, Inc., Irvine California; President Takeshi Sasaki; a manufacturing and sales subsidiary of composites materials and adhesive films. Grafil and Newport have operated as separate entities since they were acquired by Mitsubishi Rayon in early 1990's. Through the launch of Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites, Inc. and the acquisition of Aldila Inc., Mitsubishi Rayon boosts its presence in the US, one of the largest and most important markets for the industry.

Carbon fiber and composite materials are widely known as materials contributing CO2 reduction and energy saving, being used for transportation equipment such as airplanes and automotives, and relevant fields of new energy like wind turbines and pressure vessels for alternative fuels, as world demand of these are expected to continue to expand.

Mitsubishi Rayon positions its carbon fiber and composites materials business as a core business for the next generation, and promotes production capacity expansions globally and development of new technologies.
