New Light-Curing Adhesives are Conquering the Electronics Industry

Published on 2010-03-29. Author : SpecialChem

Windach -- DELO Industrial Adhesives, a manufacturer of industrial adhesives, has developed a new range of light-curing adhesives for electronic applications. Thanks to their tension-equalizing nature, they are ideal for bonding metal to plastic, while remaining highly flexible. They stand out from the competition by their flexibility at temperatures down to -40 °C. Their excellent flow properties and wetting behavior makes them the first choice for casting applications (such as sealing of relays, switches or pins), mainly in the electronic industry. These adhesives' corrosion resistance is also beneficial. Among the potential applications are sealing and casting of electronic components, especially of pins, relays, microswitches or plugs, and covering of electrical contacts. They also seal components reliably at temperatures of up to +100 °C, and are thus perfect for interior applications in the automotive industry.

DELO has developed three products with different properties. DELO-PHOTOBOND AD414 is a highly flexible, tension-equalizing adhesive. It has excellent resistance to temperature changes and temperature shocks, and is ideal for pin casting in processes with short-term soldering steps. DELO-PHOTOBOND AD413 is excellent for plug casting. Both adhesives achieve top results in sealing tests, and meet IP67 requirements. Both also perform very well in diverse climatic change tests and chemical resistance testing, and adhere very well to metal and plastic. "One of our key concerns in the development of these two products was sealing", says Martin Kluke, DELO Product Manager. "In addition, we have succeeded in combining adhesion to tinplated metals and to plastic, in just one adhesive." DELO-PHOTOBOND AD474 is another of the newly developed adhesives. It has excellent resistance to corrosion, making it perfect for covering electrical contacts.
