Nippon Shokubai to Build Acrylic Acid Plant in Japan to meet the Growing Demand

NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO., LTD. announces that NIPPON SHOKUBAI determined to build a new acrylic acid("AA") plant as it expects remarkable demand growth of AA.

Worldwide demand for AA has been growing at about 6% annual reflecting the growth of acrylates and superabsorbent polymers ("SAP"), major applications of AA, NIPPON SHOKUBAI will build a new AA plant with an annual production capacity of 80,000 MT/Y in May 2013 at Himeji Plant, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan to satisfy the growing demand and to fullfil its duty to supply products.

In order to execute its AA business strategy; "Growth based on increasing demand", NIPPON SHOKUBAI continues to strengthen global supply network. With this new plant at Himeji, NIPPON SHOKUBAI group' s global AA production capacity will be 780,000 MT/Y in summer 2013 including capacity expansion in Indonesia.
