WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Nordson Corporation announced that its co-founder Eric T. Nord, who guided the company to become a billion dollar world leader in adhesive and coating application equipment, will be inducted into the Packaging Hall of Fame™ during PACK EXPO International, the world's leading event focused on the packaging industry.

Nord, who died in June 2008, will be recognized along with four other honorees during a ceremony on November 11 at the Hyatt McCormick Place in Chicago.

"It is a great honor to have Eric Nord recognized by the Packaging Hall of Fame," said Edward P. Campbell, Nordson Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "His passion for creating solutions to manufacturing's challenges changed the packaging industry, but his passion for making a difference in the world changed the lives of everyone around him."

Nord served as Nordson's president from 1954 to 1974, remained CEO until 1983 and continued as chairman until 1997. He passed away at the age of 90 on June 19, 2008. Nord also earned 25 U.S. patents during his career, and his philanthropic vision was behind more than $100 million of support for charitable and educational causes.

Each year since 1971, the Packaging Hall of Fame has recognized industry professionals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the packaging industry and packaging education efforts. A special Packaging Hall of Fame Commission, representing a cross section of the packaging community, selected this year's five honorees. Packaging Hall of Fame inductions occur annually at the PACK EXPO trade show, organized by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute. PMMI is a trade association of packaging and packaging-related companies in the United States and Canada and serves as the coordinating organization for the Packaging Hall of Fame.

Nordson provides hot melt and cold glue adhesive systems for packaging breakfast cereals, detergents, beverages and other products, attaching labels, sealing sift-proof cartons and stabilizing pallets.

Nordson Corporation is one of the world's leading producers of precision dispensing equipment that applies adhesives, sealants and coatings to a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations. The company also manufactures equipment used in the testing and inspection of electronic components as well as technology-based systems for curing and surface treatment processes.
