Peter R. Strasser Named an ASC Honorary Member

Bethesda, MD -- The Board of Directors of the Adhesive and Sealant Council, Inc. (ASC)unanimously approved the appointment of Peter R. Strasser as the ASC's newest Honorary Member. For the past 35years, Strasser has been a positive influence on the adhesive and sealant community and ASC.

While chairing and serving on the ASC Membership Committee, Strasser was instrumental in recruiting more than20 ASC members. He worked on several regulatory issues, including successfully negotiating with theEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) to keep contact cements, under certain SIC codes, from begin banned. Healso worked with the EPA in phasing out 1,1,1-trichloroethane solvents and the tax issues surrounding them.

"Pete is one of those people who is always forward thinking," Lawrence Sloan, ASC President, stated. "He had theforesight to encourage ASC to move from Chicago to the DC area in the early '80s, so we could better serve ourmembers by being geographically closer to the various federal agencies which affect our industry. He was alsoinfluential in the hiring of Mr. Jules Rapp, former ASC Executive Vice President, in 1977. Pete knew that Jules hadwhat it would take to elevate ASC from a 'good old boys' club to the professional and influential organization it istoday."

Strasser was CEO of what was formerly known as Columbia Cement, where he worked in various positions for 24years. In 1997, he left Columbia to start his own consulting practice, Andrew Scott Associates LLC, but he hasremained a vital and active member of the industry. Andrew Scott Associates provides a broad range of consultationservices to the industry, including assistance with new product development, marketing and mergers.

"Events like the ASC's recent convention in Kansas City are exactly what Pete has worked so hard for," Sloansummarized. "Nothing is a greater testament to Pete's dedication than the breadth and diversity of the ASC members,as they come together in one venue to exchange knowledge and best practices that strengthen the collectiveintelligence of the industry. He exemplifies the spirit of a true visionary, who has an eye for continual improvementand a desire to keep up with the times."

The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) is a North American trade associationdedicated to representing the adhesive and sealant industry. Incorporated in 1958, ASCis bound by the collective efforts of its members, and strives to improve the industry operatingenvironment and strengthen its member companies. Today, ASC membersaccount for more than 75% of the aggregate industry revenues, exceeding some $6 billionannually. The Council is comprised of 125 adhesives and sealants manufacturers, rawmaterial and equipment suppliers, and industry consultants.
