Scott Bader to Present Expanded Range of Methacrylate-based Adhesives at China Adhesive’15

Scott Bader Asia Pacific is exhibiting at China Adhesive 2015, running from 16-18 September at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention. On the Scott Bader stand (booth no: A0820) will present the latest expanded range of Crestabond® methacrylate based structural adhesives, suitable for bonding a wide range of popular engineering material substrates including: carbon and glass fiber reinforced composites, stainless steel, aluminum, cold rolled and galvanized metals, ABS, acrylic and polycarbonate. All Crestabond products provide excellent adhesion strength, toughness, fatigue and impact resistance.

Both the Crestabond methacrylate and the long established Crestomer® urethane acrylate ranges of structural adhesives will be promoted on the Scott Bader stand during China Adhesive 2015. Visitors will be able to see different substrates being bonded together and even have a go themselves to experience first-hand handing and using the products.

Two new black grades recently added to the Crestabond® range (M7-05 Black and M7-15 Black) will also be featured during the exhibition. These new grades were specifically developed by Scott Bader in response to growing customer demand from fabricators bonding black pigmented ABS and carbon fiber composite components where pleasing aesthetics and a very high finish quality is also critical, not just a lighter weight design: this is the case for racing and high performance cars, electric vehicles, racing yachts and sports equipment. The two new 1:1 mix ratio black M7 grades are in addition to existing black Crestabond M1 (10:1) grades available in the range.

Latest Crestabond bonding applications being showcased during the show includes structural wind energy blade parts for a leading manufacturer in China, and a variety of metal and FRP bonded parts on specialist utility service vehicles manufactured by Altec China. The Crestabond range is now globally established as proven, cost effective structural adhesives for OEMs and convertors. Key market applications for the Crestabond range include: building & construction for doors, windows and cladding; wind energy blades, housings and nacelles; marine for all types of craft; land transportation for buses, coaches, trains and trucks, motor homes and caravans; and for specialty vehicles such as tractors, combine harvesters, vehicle-mounted boom lift utility trucks, fire engines and emergency support vehicles.

The Crestabond range offers a choice of eight grades, with both 10:1 and 1:1 mix ratio options, and a range of fixture times, from as little as 8 minutes for the new rapid bond M1-04 grade, up to as long as 240 minutes for M1-90. A major benefit of the Crestabond adhesives range is that minimal substrate surface preparation is required. The combination of a fast cure with the freedom to bond such a wide variety of different substrates with virtually no need to do any pre application surface preparation, has provided many manufacturers with significant shop floor cost savings and productivity benefits.

The Crestomer® urethane acrylate adhesives range was originally developed by Scott Bader’s R & D team over 35 years ago for structurally bonding GRP substrates, with particular focus on demanding marine hull and deck applications, specified globally by many leading fiberglass leisure and working boat builders for bonding not only GRP parts together, but GRP with wood and core materials. Crestomer products are also widely used in land transportation and building applications.
