Technip to Produce Epichlorohydrin Based on Solvay's Epicerol™ Technology

Technip was awarded by Solvay an engineering services contract for studying the construction of a greenfield chemical plant in Taixing, Jiangsu Province, China. The plant will be based on Solvay's innovative and patented Epicerol™ technology and will produce 100 kilo-tons per year of epichlorohydrin* from glycerine**.

Technip's operating center in Shanghai, China will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in the second semester of 2013. This award marks a new step in the longstanding collaboration between Technip and Solvay, which is a global leader in specialty polymers, vinyls, essential and special chemicals.

* Epichlorohydrin: an organochlorine compound and an epoxide which is used in the production of glycerol, plastics, epoxy glues and resins, and elastomers

** Glycerine: a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid that is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations.
