ROTTERDAM -- Univar N.V., a world leader in chemical distribution, announced that it has been appointed by the Epoxy Products & Intermediates (EP&I) business of The Dow Chemical Company as their primary distributor for UCAR™ Solution Vinyl Resins (SVR) in Italy, France, Benelux, the Nordic region, Ireland and the UK.

Dow produces SVR products through a proprietary solution polymerization process. Applications include coatings, inks and adhesives for rigid and flexible packaging, heat-seal lacquers, industrial coatings, wood sealers, strippable coatings, as well as maintenance and marine coatings. Dow is the world's leading producer of SVR products. Specific SVR products are FDA approved for use in food-contact applications such as can, paper, film and foil coatings, and coatings for closures.

Applications include coatings, inks and adhesives for both rigid and flexible packaging, heat-seal lacquers, industrial coatings, wood sealers, strippable coatings, as well as maintenance and marine coatings.

Not only have we strengthened our well known partnership with Dow, but we also have strengthened our position as a leading European distributor with capability to serve both the general and specialty chemical markets," commented Guy Monteil, Vice-President Commercial of Univar Europe. "SVR products are highly specialized and require a highly skilled technical sales force. That's exactly what we have, and our proven performance led Dow to choose us over companies that go to market as pure specialty distributors. We are pleased to broaden the scope of our product portfolio to include high quality SVR products from Dow."

"At Dow we have a longstanding relationship with Univar," adds Marco Levi, Dow EP&I sales director for Europe. "We know them as an outstanding organization with a proven track record of performance and reliability in serving customers of Dow's general chemicals, as well as specialties. Univar does everything in a world-class way, and we are confident in their ability to deliver superior service and value to SVR customers. By working with Univar, SVR customers will get the most convenient points of contact, the quickest response to their inquiries and the most accurate, helpful service. Our agreement with Univar really should improve the ease with which SVR customers do business.
