Yantai Wanhua Expands HDI and HMDI Production

Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes Co. Ltd., Asia Pacific's largest MDI producer represented at the UTECH North America meeting in Houston recently. In addition to the central theme of " Your trustworthy partner for PU solutions ", Yantai Wanhua also demonstrated its commitments to global supplies, technical innovation and green technologies.

Commitment to Global Supplies

By the end of 2010, the total capacity of the Yantai and Ningbo MDI plants will reach 800 Ktpa. The new Wanhua Bajiao Chemical Industrial Park is already under construction and will contain a further 600 Ktpa MDI and 300 Ktpa TDI, resulting in a total Isocyanates capacity of 1.8 million tonnes.

Technical Innovations

Yantai Wanhua continues innovations in aliphatic Isocyanates. Both HDI and HMDI production have started and novel ADI Isocyanates such as IPDI and XDI will be added to the range in the non too distant future.

Yantai Wanhua is also one of the China's biggest TPU supplier and the new TPU products were also presented at UTECH including ADI based, and Halogen free TPU's, plus hot melts and super soft varieties.

Green Chemical Technologies

Yantai Wanhua is committed to green chemistry based solutions and sustainable developments in the PU industry including:
  • Water based PU's for coatings and adhesives
  • Palm oil based green polyether polyols
  • Insulation materials for energy efficiency
  • Zero-E straw boards from crop straw with zero formaldehyde emissions

About Yantai Wanhua

Yantai Wanhua's business covers R&D, production and marketing of isocyanates, aromatic polyamines and thermalplastic polyurethanes (TPUS) . The company currently has two MDI plants with the total capacity of 500,000 tons/year while product quality and unit consumption have reached the world advanced level.
